Jung Yunho who appeared on time at the interview venue, “About his taste, compared to coffee, he seems to prefer juices more” - drinking grape juice through a straw and started about the topic of TVXQ’s Japan Tour. He has the best condition among the people who returned to Korea. Most of the times, he needs shawl and scarf for pictures image that might be embarrassing, but he did it enthusiastically, showing a variety of actions and rich expressions.
“Everyone let’s eat, we have to eat before we can continue to work~” When the food delivery is here, Yunho greeted the staff to eat first. During the checking of cameras and lighting in between the break of the photo shoot, he who was sitting on the sofa got tired gradually, and he got into a nap with his head dropping lightly one time after another. (T/N: The reflex action you have when you are sleeping sitting up. When your head drops due to gravity and you nod up.)
Although he isn’t in a fully clear minded condition, he persisted taking the photo shoot seriously till the last photo was taken. Even if he did not want to show that he is tired, it is possible for us to sense his weariness. There were even a few pictures taken showing him closing his eyes. Maybe he felt embarrassed himself, he mumbled to himself, “Ah..I feel asleep unconsciously..”
Truly, even during the shooting for High Cut in the raining autumn three years ago on the yellow boat at the Han River, when he dropped into the river because he stretched his body, he still held a big smile on his face. The attraction of a very professional kind man, who tried his best to open his eyes wide till the very end of the shooting, has been shown thoroughly in this. Hopefully everyone will anticipate possessing such image of the pictorial.

If it appears to be very serious and strict, looking from another side, it might appear to be too formal and in turn become boring. Things usually have two sides. Thinking hard just to avoid sensitive questions, yet at the same time thinking there’s no need for such acts, and it’s the best to show the true nature. During the interview, Jung Yunho spoke his inner thoughts at the largest scale, yet tried his best to balance it. There’s sometimes his clumsy side appears and even said something like, “I don’t even know what I’m saying”, causing a little confusion situation. But there’s one obvious point, every word he said contain nothing but his true heart.

Although it has ended for quite some time, I want to ask what did you do after the end of drama <Yawang>?
I rested for three days after Yawang ended - went to Jeju Island for a holiday and then started to prepare for Japan tour. No matter what, it’s a bit of depressing to return to what my original job is after acting. I attended Yawang’s after party in between the schedules, the seniors still treat me very friendly like how older siblings or seniors at home are like. As I placed all my energy on the drama and lesser time was spent on preparing the concerts, so I practiced harder than usual. After that will be the start of the Japan tour and world tour.
Even though there were many problems here and there, the drama remains as the best rating recorded for first half year.
It seems to be this case. To me, this is a drama that benefits me a lot. Other than chances to learn, I met a lot of kind people - Sangwoo hyung took care of me like my blood related brother, Sungryung noona also acted like a mother to me, so until now I still cannot forget that feeling. I feel very fortunate to be able to act in the drama. At the start, everyone observed quietly by the side but I really learn a lot after everyone got close and friendlier.
Being the maknae at the filming venue, you seem to have receive a lot of care from the seniors.
There’s some competition in the singing industry, but it’s can only be counted as my second try at the acting career. Being able to work with the seniors, I feel really happy. Sangwoo hyung, Sungryung noona, Sooae noona all said they like TVXQ’s songs and gave me a lot of praises. Also, at the second part of the filming, teacher Lee and teacher Cha looked very carefully at all the filming scenes. I remembered teacher Lee said this, “Improve more when you meet better works next time, I am very optimistic of you.” There’s a lot of comments like this during the drama, but the feeling of united crew feels really good.
Seniors Kwon Sangwoo and Kim Sungryung gave you a lot of praises in their interviews, did you see the contents?
Actually I didn’t thought of receiving interviews after the end of the drama. There’s a lot of seniors in the filming crew, it’s not appropriate if I accept interviews and say this and that before them. Really thankful to the seniors’ praises during their interviews. Also, I think Sangwoo hyung who looks very manly is actually a casual person in private, he is very friendly, takes care of people around him, he’s a real and cool man.
This is the second time you challenged acting field, what’s the difference compared to <Heading To The Ground>?
Although there’s a lot of flaws until now, but what I personally think is, I feel myself becoming more sincere. Parts that might come off difficult to me can be better comprehended now. Through acting, I understand the unknown world, allowing the muddle-head me to change a lot. From that sense of meaning, Baek Do Hoon in Yawang is completely the best present God gave to me which in turn render a lot of help to me. Believing that someone’s personality is the same as mine, understanding the lost justice and importance of a family through him. But of course, there are depressing parts during filming too. (Laughs)
What’s the feeling returning to singer Uknow Yunho? Unknowingly, TVXQ has debuted for 10 years, when is the happiest time since debuting?
No matter when, standing on the stage is the happiest to me. Breathing together with the audience below the stage can make my blood boil with passion. TVXQ went through a lot during the past ten years in terms of the activities. I might be the leader, but I am a normal human being. There’s a lot of things I need to tolerate, whenever I feel suffering, once I stand on the stage, it’s as if the stress are gone with the wind. Although I am the type who speak with caution in private, but I will say everything I want to say on stage. A person who never cries will cry on the stage, it seems like I must have missed the stage a lot.
Saying you are more straight forward on stage, you are also an outstanding singer.
Understanding another me through acting yet feeling the real me on stage, the feeling of being balanced makes me feel happy. There’s a lot of improvement in performing after going through acting, although I still have things lacking, but my performance is really better than before.
You’re counted as a big senior if you go to music broadcasting resting rooms now. Are you getting along well with the juniors?
Who said about “the earliest ancestor of idols world” or “the grandfather of idols world”? (Laughs) Actually after being a senior, I feel more lonely. Juniors think seniors are hard to approach to, and seniors don’t wish to disturb the juniors. To break this situation, when we release albums, we will go to different rooms and give the CD to the juniors personally. We will say things like “please support us a lot” “let’s work hard together” “let’s be more friendly” to the juniors.
Which junior do you think is the best to you now?
It’s hard to specify one because there are a lot recently. Everyone has became more united, they also have certain strengths and skills and they work hard. So my biggest suggestion for them is to unleash their biggest special characteristic soon. As the singing industry becomes more and more competitive, skills need to be improved very quickly. If you do not search for your own personal trademark soon, your future might be tougher and you might be outcasted. Accept other people’s advice as you improve, this will be a good habit to get used to.
Most of (your) friends are either working or married, if you are living normally, what will you be doing now?
Yunho: (My) original dream is to be a prosecutor, so most probably (I) will study seriously and challenge the judicial exams. Also, maybe I’ll be married, my family has been very harmonious, so I had hoped to marry at the age my parents got married at (27 years old). But I’ve almost past the age now (laugh). Going back to the reality, I feel that it’s not the right time to get married now. Everyone should only marry when they can be responsible and are prepared enough for it.
It’s really accurate about TVXQ’s popularity at overseas - Japan’s Sapporo train station delayed their last train for the dome tour and becoming the first foreign group to hold a concert in Nissan Stadium. What do you think is the most important thing about popularity?
It’s really hard to hold the live performance at Nissan Stadium. When you’re in another country, no matter which country, you have to start from learning their culture. As you slowly become more mature in the country, your popularity will become more stable. It’s about 8 years since we started out in another country. I remember there were only about 400 people in front of us at our first performance in Sapporo. 8 years later, it is the 100 times of 400 - 40K people. Really thankful to them. There are some countries where we can only have short activities at, we are very sorry to the fans there. If there’s time and opportunities, it will be best to stay at one place to have long activities.
You must have felt very excited to see overseas fans using Korean as fansupport.
There’s different feelings to seeing it now and in the past. Everyone seems to use YouTube etc social websites recently to get information, we really hope to spread basic Korea language and culture to everyone. When we see the fansupport in Korean we feel happy and excited, but erm..how do I say this..we want to show everyone our best side but sometimes we accidentally send the wrong things. (Laugh)
Running for 10 years, there seems to be different plans for the future now?
I had the thought “give hope to everyone who are like us” in mind since young. I don’t know if it’s possible, but I want to build a school that is similar to <Dream High> and I hope everyone will participate in charity activities more. Using my forte like singing and dancing to help people is my dream. I have also help some people in private now. (shrugging) Accumulate the experience after learning, I want to try it out seriously and systematically.
Lastly, personally, what else do you want to say?
Thank you to everyone who loved TVXQ like always for the past 10 years. It’s inseparable with everyone’s love that we can walk till today. We created TVXQ together. Thank you for walking with us till now, really thankful for the trust you gave us.

A lot of people think of me as a cold and even strict person at first impression. SNSD’s Seohyun mentioned I am like an instructor in the previous High Cut volume…(smiling innocently) I am actually very pure and innocent, I am really only like a king of the children. Also, my drawing skills that were revealed through Running Man, that doesn’t mean I don’t have artistic sense. Um um (T/N: the sound made, it’s a sound for agreement) I want to clarify these.
Yunho’s wish list
“A house which I can stay forever, I want to decorate it beautifully because I have an artistic sense that is different from others. Of course, for the drawings, it will be tasked to other people. (Laughs) I’ll convey my thoughts to professionals. But at the very least, I want to participate personally with the designing of the house.” This is my dream.
